Contemporary remodel of an 1, 800 sq ft apartment to maximise living areas of a private residence within a beautiful period building in Maida Vale. Working to the architects’ vision of contemporising the living area with a larch-clad ‘box’, we moved the original staircase to open up space and contained the kitchen within the ‘box’ allowing it to discretely disappear when not in use. By combining the kitchen with the dining and sitting areas, the overall space of the living area increases while closing off the private zone of the home, incorporating two bedrooms and shared bathroom.
